Locked Page, Event, Blog Post, etc.

Locked Page, Event, Blog Post, etc.

If you see a red lock icon on a page or other content item, that means another user is currently working on it, or they locked it accidentally by closing the browser or backing out of the item without publishing or clicking the “Back to Pages/Events/Blogs” link at the top of the editor after viewing the item.

If there is only one website administrator, it is still possible to lock an item if you back out of it improperly.

If an item is locked by you, you will see the locked icon, but you will still be able to get into it without any issues, because you are the item’s owner.  In that situation, just click on the item as you normally would, and you will be able to edit.

When you click on an item locked by someone else, you will see the following message:

To resolve this, contact the user who has the item locked and ask if they are currently working on the item. If they are currently editing the content item, they will have to finish before you will be able to access it.

If they locked it by accident, that user will have to log in, click on the title of the page/event/post/etc., and then either click Publish, or click the “Back to Pages/Events/Blog Posts” link at the top of the editor.

If you cannot get in touch with the user who has the item locked and need it unlocked immediately, submit a ticket and a webmaster will be able to unlock it for you.

To Prevent Accidental Locking:

If you go into the editor of a content item but don't make any changes, always use the "Back to [Pages, Events, Blogs]" link at the top of the page, NOT the browser's back button.

You can also click Publish as well.
